I'm Deborah, the potter at the wheel. Welcome to my studio!
My craft embraces the practicality of functional pottery while encouraging an appreciation for beautiful ceramics and original art. Pottery is my passion, so please view my gallery often for newly added pieces.
I believe hand-made pottery is a quiet pleasure. To wrap your hands around a warm, hand-crafted mug as you finish your day, or bring forth that lovely vase carefully chosen to display your fresh flowers is such a treat. I hope you enjoy my art and grow personal collections that brings you joy.
Cheers!
Deborah

My ceramics are made using Montana clay and are hand-thrown on the potter's wheel in small batches within my home studio in Missoula, Montana. I have found the texture of stoneware to be durable and functional for daily living with countless options for beauty and style. Each piece is uniquely inspired during its creation with a focus on rustic elegance - a reflection of Natercia's personality blended with my natural style.

This lovely woman is Natercia, my mother
and the inspiration for Natercia Stoneware by Deborah.
Here's her story.
Natercia was born in Hong Kong, China to a Portuguese family where she was the only daughter and youngest of five children, one being her twin. Natercia and her four brothers were a special kind of family, the kind that comes along occasionally and steals your heart. The family endured hardship during their early years in Hong Kong as they survived a Japanese refugee camp during WWII but recovered well as my grandfather was an adept provider. Natercia says this time together built character and she spoke fondly of the experience.
Natercia left Hong Kong in her twenties and sailed to the US where she gained citizenship and met my father. Natercia had a loving way about her and, on more than one occasion, opened our home to friends in need. She was hard-working, displayed a gentle nature, and was loved by many. My fondest memories were watching her visit with her brothers. She was at her best in their company - smiling, laughing, sometimes dancing, and continually reminiscing of old Hong Kong days.
Natercia passed at the age of 90. I miss her every day.
After her passing, she left my siblings and me modest inheritance, so I chose carefully with her gift. My choice was to build my home ceramics studio. I know she would have wanted this for me, and each piece is a tribute to her loving spirit.
